Robin Mix began his glass studies at the University of Massachusetts , Amherst in 1973-4 and continued in 1975 and 1976 in Denmark , Holland and Sweden . While in Europe , he studied at Skolan for Brugskunst, Gerrit Reitveld Academic, Orrefors Glass School and Kosta Glasbruk under Master Bengt Heinize and designers Ann Waarf, Paul Hoff and Sigurd Persson.
Robin founded Tunbridge Glassworks in Vermont in 1976 and since then has continued to explore and enhance his glass working techniques to an exquisite art form.
"In contrast to most American glassblowers, my interests lie with well designed functional glassware as opposed to the one-of-a-kind. I view myself as a glass designer more than as a glass artist. I did not evolve in my craft through an art program in an American university. Instead, my early training was in the factories of Sweden where the tradition of glass is well established and is much more design oriented."

Much of his work deals with the fabrication and utilization of murrhini, little bricks of patterned glass, to which he adds an impressive design sensibility in creating exquisite vases with a mosaic effect.
He has permanent museum collections in the Museum of American Glass , The Chrysler Museum, The Cooper-Hewitt Museum, the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Design and the Downey Museum of Art.
Robin Mix exhibitions have been held in the Glass is the Medium in the Newport Art Museum , as well as, Glass Art National in the Downey Museum of Art.
Throughout the years, his career includes many one-man exhibitions and numerous national and international editorial credits.
